Hip-Hop Projects That Shouldn't Be Forgotten in 2016 - #10

Pusha T - "King Push: Darkest Before Dawn - The Prelude"

"King Push - Darkest Before Dawn”, the follow-up to 2013’s “My Name Is My Name” builds upon everything that made his first solo LP a success - immaculate production (a trait no doubt adopted from Good Music label-mate & longtime friend/collaborator Kanye West), the lyrical precision & foreboding delivery which has made the 15+ year veteran a staple in any respectable list of Top MC’s for the past two decades - and perhaps most important of all, a clear-as-crystal direction and visual of the picture Pusha T has aimed to paint for us listeners. “Darkest Before Dawn” is most impressive when taken as the whole of its’ parts, rather than dividing the artist and art into separate entities. Though certainly not a newcomer to the game, such a grandoise introduction makes us feel like we’re being introduced to Pusha T for the first time, all over again.
