If there was any one artist in 2015 whom we had to choose with mass-media marketability and potential to blow on a worldwide scale, our money would be on Goldlink. The "God Complex" MC released his debut mixtape in 2014, which was universally acclaimed by sources such as Complex and Pitchfork, among others. Goldlinks' defining characteristic (beyond his borderline anonymous identity, save for a handful of producers and an increasingly growing cult fan-following) is his affinity for using up-tempo, off the wall delivery in cadence with instrumentals ranging from everything from soul to house. Perhaps the one quote that sums up the rapper better than anyth
ing else, is one that he himself features solely on his otherwise mostly-silent social media accounts - "The moment God is figured out with nice neat lines and definitions, we are no longer dealing with God." God Complex, indeed.
