In a future dystopia where emotions are suppressed with drugs and coupling is strictly prohibited, two co-workers (Kristen Stewart and Nicholas Hoult) begin a secret love affair in defiance of society's laws. When a "cure" for all human emotion is invented, the pair realize that they must escape from their totalitarian state in order to preserve their relationship. The film has a "1984" tinge to it and there are references to current times that foreshadow what may be in our own future in this futuristic drama.
